My (almost 4 year old) daughter is starting to sound out 3 letter words and is reading Level 1 Bob Books fairly well. I was wondering what would be a good reading curriculum starting September 2011.

???

Thank You.
Krista.

I am a pretty busy mom, so I am looking for a pre made curriculum.

I can tell you what I used to teach my children to read but it is not exactly one complete curriculum. It is a combination of several things. It worked very well for us. First of all, I taught them the basic letter sounds (short and long vowels). It sounds like your daughter probably already knows those! I used some little ABeka readers for that, but you can use any program. We liked Starfall too. You may already know about it.

Then I used a program called Stevenson Learning also, which teaches using mnemonics like peanut butter and jelly words and layer cake words. (Kids tend to really remember these techniques.)

And I used some really neat books called "Now I'm Reading" by Nora Gaydos. My youngest son LOVED these books. They make learning to read so much fun.

The Reading Lesson is great for young beginners!

I also like Reading Made Easy as well as Phonics Pathways.

I am currently using ACE curriculum. I love it and so does my 7 year old. I did have her do a online reading last year thru Headsprout. There are alot of other things good out there I am sure. This is the one I know is good.

Good Luck!
