|
|
I am wanting to do a Catholic homeschool program. Most of them are based on Classic Education and I don't have a lot of knowledge about that type of education. It sounds great...focusing on logic, languages and history (although I do wish there was a broader base of history and not just ancient...I think that modern and recent history is also important). Has anyone used this type of education in a homeschool environment? How has it worked out?
I am also considering using Seton which is scholastically based. However, I was very disappointed when I was reading their history books because it was just Catholic history through 8th grade.
I really want something well balanced. Which programs have you all used and what did you like or dislike about them? |

I had been looking at Catholic curriculum last year and, although I would love to use a Catholic curriculum, I didn't like it. There was a lot of boring busy work involved for the kids. I think I would do pieces from it, but not the language arts. Good luck to you! _________________ Oiralinde is an elven word meaning "eternal song." | What did you end up using for your kids instead of the catholic stuff? |

I made my own curriculum. I went to the library and used some of my own books and wrote it myself. I plan to do this next year as well. I will be purchasing a math curriculum, perhaps Saxon or Math-U-See, later in his home school career. I don't ever plan on buying a whole curriculum. _________________ Oiralinde is an elven word meaning "eternal song." My life is full of music: love, laughter, and memories. |
