Right now my kids are in public school, but I am considering homeschooling. Recently, a 4th grade boy in my Cub Scout Pack came in wearing a name tag type thing around his neck. I asked him about it and he said it was for "Boot Camp" and when questioned further he said, "Oh, it's just some after school thing." A few days later I was talking to a friend with a 4th grade son and she mentioned boot camp. Guess what it is? It's a special free tutoring session offered to the fourth graders specifically to help them pass the state achievement tests. I wonder how much actual teaching time is lost while they're "teaching to the test". |

Welcome!
It's scary making the leap (and I'm a former teacher), but for us it has been SO worth it! Ask alot of questions, we'd love to help!
Best wishes! _________________ Jill

| Thanks for the encouragement. I've been researching and talking to homeschooling parents and I think we could do it, but I'm not quite ready to take the leap. I feel like I'm standing on the end of the high dive wondering whether to walk back to the ladder or just jump into the water. |

My son 13y.o used to attend boot camp for bad kids and with my son's experience it was really worth it. Teen boot camps are one of the most widely known alternatives for kids who are struggling in life. _________________ teen schools

I haven't really heard of homeschool kids getting in trouble, however. The only exceptions are in the few instances where the family is extremely repressive, and that sort of family is not going to send their kids away. _________________ The Farming Game - Software Edition for Mac and PC
