I live in Michigan I am unhappy with my school. My mom agrees that my school isn't very great, but is hesitant to start homeschooling.
I need some more information to help convince her that homeschooling is a good alternative to regular school and then it would benefit me much more then any other public school would.
I am currently in my third trimester of ninth grade and am looking into being home schooled for the next 3 years of High School. I am not sure what home schooling program I should use. Another issue is the fact that I have already taken a few High School courses like Algebra 1 in 8th grade that counts for High School credit (I was put into accelerated Math), Geometry, Physical Science and US History. (Currently taking the second trimester of both Physical Science and Geometry) I am concerned that I would have to take them again because of the curriculum of certain schools and I would prefer not to have to do that... Are credit transfers possible?
I have heard Penn Foster is a really great school for students like myself who prefer the independent study format and excel from it. Is this true?
And I have heard about home schooling being paid for by the school board in many states. Is it possible for this to be done in Michigan? It would help greatly.
Thanks for your help! Any recommendations at all would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. We aren't rich. We can't really afford 4,000 dollars a year for homeschooling like I have seen from some schools... In my opinion, that is slightly ridiculous.... |
