I’m interested in homeschooling my 2 boys, 3.5 & 2yrs old. My older son just finished his first semester of preschool in the public school system. Going the public school route was never really my plan, but he’s not yet talking intelligibly.
I think that this summer would be a great time to start homeschooling both boys – just start playing school. If I start right now then I can see how I feel about continuing to send my older son to preschool in the fall. I may continue to send him, because it will still only be 2 days a week for 3 hours a day. And then continue schooling on the other days. I don’t know, we’ll have to see how things go.
I would love any recommendations or comments from anyone who has gone through this. _________________ Check out my blog, I write about parenting, gardening, philosophy and whatever else strikes my fancy

I look forward to hearing from you more. All three of my sons have language delays (8, 6, 15mos) The older two went to preschool, mornings, and this was our first year of homeschool. It really helps with their speech when they get help in the beginning and you can see if the school district is open to letting the speech service continue while you homeschool, That is what we do now. _________________ Phi 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. |

I can't speak about your state, but I know in California even if your child is not attending public school, that the district you are located in is still responsible for speech services. They will provide services to kids as young as 3. My niece is going through an assessment process right now to determine if she will be needing services, so I am becoming more informed with the legal rights of parents. _________________ Megan A.
