| The earliest that I'm aware of is ABeka for 3 year-olds. I used it for my second son... he was one of those kids that HAD to be soaking up knowledge. It's been years ago, but what I remember of this curriculum is that it was hands on. He learned his letters by gluing objects into the shapes of the letters, etc. He was reading 3-letter words with short vowels, that same year. I don't know of anything else out there. |

I used Carol's Affordable Curriculum when my daughter was 2.5 and it says that it has stuff for 18 month olds:

A Beka also has a 2 year old curriculum. My daughter used it and enjoyed it. _________________ The work will wait while you show the child the rainbow, but the rainbow will not wait while you do the work. |

Read lots of picture books to them. We used to check out stacks of them at the library. There are so many great history, science and math picture books to choose from. I have some lists on my website.
You can start with Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons but I wouldn't do the writing part. Take it VERY slow. Keep it fun and take a break for a couple of weeks if it gets too intense.
Relax, your child will learn tons from you just by talking with you and having you answer their questions. _________________ Heidi
