My dd is starting Kindergarden this year. I have dh on board for k,1 at home, but if he does not change his mind what happens if I have to put her back in for second grade?
Thanks for you help! |

| She will just start in the second grade. Just keep the books you used just in case they ask to see what she did to "place" her. In NC you can put your kids in and out of school as you see fit. I know people who put their kids in and out every couple of years. I have a friend who pulled hers out mid year last year and put them back in the next year mid year. Go figure. If you put her back in you close your school and if you decide to pull her back out again later you tell the state that you are reopening your school. They don't really care, they just want a count of how many kids are homeschooled. |

In your place, I would go down to the local school with the most recent standardized test scores, dd's immunization records, and a photocopy of her birth certificate (just in case), and say, "Hi. I'm enrolling dd in second grade. Here are her records." I wouldn't give them the chance to put her back a grade.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, though, for your dh to be so impressed with your dd's development that he won't even consider public school. _________________ Married to Mr. Ellie for over 30 years
