How fast do you want to put away the groceries?
Before shopping: Let the kids do this if you can.
1. Clean out the fridge. Kids do this? That could be a bigger mess.
2. Clean off the kitchen counter.
3.Empty the dishwasher.
4. Load the dishwasher.
5 Clean out the sink.

When checking out:
Try to load the conveyor belt so certain items will be bagged together:
canned goods that go into the same cabinet
freezer items
cereals
staples: flour, sugar,
spices.....
This helps somewhat.
