Since we cannot afford to buy curriculum for our three children, I really liked the idea of creating our own. However, it is proving to be a bit more overwhelming than I was planning on. I like the idea of Unit Studies and Lapbooking and even Notebooking.. I just need to figure out where to start. LOL We're not a smooth running homeschooling family yet but this is our first year.

I even borrowed textbooks from the public school that my children would have been using if they were attending this year. SO, I guess I should just go through the books and choose what I want to use and when. Right?

Does anyone else create their own???? I am very excited to get it figured out and get a set schedule but I just don't know where to start.

It is fine to use the public school textbooks and pick and choose which parts you want to teach. Here are two links for scope and sequences. You can use them as a guide. They show you what you need to teach for each grade.

I've always put my curriculum together on my own and I enjoy doing it. Don't worry if everything is not completely perfect your first year. You will learn a lot as you go along and figure out what works best for your kids. Here are a few links for lapbooking, in case you don't already know about them:
