Hello,
I'm a new homeschooling mother of one 8yo DD and the proud wife of a US Army Veteran turned computer programmer. After I finished my BS, I decided to focus on our family as opposed to a paying career. I am planning to finish my MA part-time once I get the hang of this. My DD is highly intelligent and has been diagnosed with ADHD, though she probably falls somewhere on the autism spectrum. Regardless, she has been in a new school every semester since Kindergarten as I've desperately searched for something that could keep her challenged. She lasted almost 2 years at an IB elementary school but we finally had enough and she came home a few weeks ago. In that time she's mastered everything on the state's 3rd and 4th grade standardized tests! I'm looking for inspiration as I put together our classroom and find new and interesting ways to keep her challenged. So far this has proven more difficult that I had imagined and I'm hoping to learn from those who've been at this longer. My daughter loves all sciences and loves to read. My background is in sociology, history, government and psychology and my husband's background is in classical music, communications, all things computer related and modern warfare
I'm hoping to connect with families who have different strengths such as sciences, agriculture, botany, etc. I would like to lean on others to enrich the available curriculum and offer the same in exchange. I'm looking forward to talking to other parents without the friction of having made different schooling choices for our children! |
