Hi again everyone!
I filed the affidavit, here in CA, yesterday. I have a copy of that and the confirmation email printed out.
I verbally gave notice this past Monday that NEXT Friday will be my kids last day. Should this be done in writing? They don't need a certain amount of time frame for notifications. But I'm thinking some kind of paper trail would be nice to have?
Do I need to give the school and/or school district a copy of the affidavit? I've read through a few other post and some say yes, and some say no...so I'm a bit confused.
I also requested the cum files, and the principal said that I didn't really need them, because I 'should already have' the report cards and what not from years prior. Well, I sucked at keeping that stuff, so no, I don't have it.
The principal also stated that I would need to notify the home school of where the kids would have been going once we move to AZ, if I were going to put them in public school. And then they would send the cum files to them. HOW do I get the cum files????

Yes, IMHO, you should send them a letter notifying them that your dc are being withdrawn and enrolled in a private school. When you mail the letter, you send it with a return-receipt requested.

No. The school, the district, and the county office of education used to receive hard copies of the affidvavit when we mailed in a hard copy; now I'm assuming they're just available on-line. I wouldn't worry about it. Rule of thumb: Never, ever contact the school district or the country office of education. Just don't.

You want them anyway. There's an amazing amount of junk in those cum files. You want them.

"Notify the home school"?? What the heck does that mean? No, if you have the cum files in your hand, you take them with you if you enroll the dc in school in AZ. You will want to include some sort of report card or grade report in it for the time they were enrolled in *your* private school; in fact, I would recommend doing standardized testing, even though you aren't required to, and put those results in the cum.
So, yes, you tell the principal you want the cum files, the same way he would give cum files to any other private school in California. That you filed the affidavit is irrelevant. Don't back down, girlfriend!
If you do decide to put the dc in school in AZ, don't make a big deal about how you were homeschooling in California. Just take the cum file with you, and list your private school as the last school they attended.
