| I had some problems at school, so my mom took me out and is homeschooling me, kind of. The counselor at my old school said to let me pretty much teach myself? I have to study for my GED and take the test when I am 16. Is it okay if I print things and give myself assignments if my mom grades them or something? |

As long as your mother complies with any homeschool laws in your state, it doesn't matter who does the teaching.

You don't really need much supervision from fourth grade onward. No state requirement mandates x amount of direct teacher supervision, because then their own public schools would fail (40+ students per class with 1-hour period = 1.5 minutes maximum personal attention per student per class per day). So it's all about the number of hours you put in studying.
I did almost all my own studying from 4th grade onwards, with the exception of a few online courses.

Hi Theodore,
As you mention about public schools are absolutely true. 1.5 min max personal attention is not sufficient to figure out the basic problem of student. Most of cases student suffering from+ basics. If we help them in basic's they will manage there subject. If a student is not able to know the basic of add, sub, mult, div then in future he can't solve any problem related to this. So personal attention matter's alot.
