Hi,
I'm not a homeschooling parent, but I work for an educational facility that is considering opening a class during school hours for children (3rd - 9th grade) who homeschool. I am hoping that I can get some advice from those of you who have experience taking your children to these sort of classes.
I realize each homeschooling parent has his/her own unique schedule, but is there a particular day/time that seems to be best for most families? I've heard that some parents reserve Fridays for extracurricular activities/field trips. Is this true? Also, do any of you prefer morning classes to afternoon classes?
Thanks!

I prefer choosing the classes that my sons want to take or classes that I want them to take. We work our schedule around the places we have to be during the day so there is no day that works out better than another and we don't reserve any specific day for classes. The classes my kids take change from session to session as well as the times they're offered so we go with the flow for the classes we want to take. _________________ To be idle is a short road to death and to be diligent is a way of life; foolish people are idle, wise people are diligent. |

I will never say I am the average home schooler or anything else. However I do prefer afternoon classes. My local science museum has afternoon labs for Homeschoolers they are on Wednesdays and seem to do well.
I typically work in the mornings about 2-3 mornings a week. So those times don't work for me. If I'm not working, I enjoy sleeping in.
My cover school has decided to have all morning classes this week on the two of the three mornings that I will be working at least half of. Therefore, we will not be taking a class with them. That's a shame.
Fridays are theoretically our field trip, picnic, park days sort of days. We don't always do something fun and educational each Friday but that's our goal. |

| Thanks for all the info. What do you think about computer enrichment classes on Wednesday at 12:45 - 1:45 and Friday 10:00-11:00. (Parents can chose one of the two days.) Thanks! |

Those would probably be two good times to choose between for my family. We do usually tend to reserve Fridays for out-of-house educational activities, and I do usually prefer afternoons the rest of the week.
