Idaho homeschooling

Postby ldydg » Sun May 13, 2007 2:08 pm

I live in Idaho and am providing care for my 3 yr old grandson. Where do I find out the regulations for homeschooling in ID? Could someone please point me in the right direction for finding a curriculum book for preschoolers? It is amazing to me on what children need to know before they start kindergarten. Thank you for any help/direction anyone can provide.

Mandatory age is between 7 and 16, so you don't have to worry about legal requirements for 3 more years.
You don't have to notify anyone when you start to homeschool.
There are no attendance (hours) requirements.
There are no degree requirements.
There are no record-keeping requirements.
There are no testing requirements.
Subject matter should be comparable to what's taught in the public schools.

Bottom line, it's rather hard to fail as a homeschooler in Idaho. The burden of proof rests entirely on the prosecution to prove that you aren't doing a good job, not on you to prove that you are.
