Hi all! I am not homeschooling as of yet but hope to in the near future. (ds is 9 and dd is 5, almost 6) Over the last few weeks I've been reading every book on the subject and mining the internet for information. My hubby is totally supportive........just wanting to consider this carefully and also find a feasible way to go from 2 incomes down to 1! The whole positive impact that homeschooling has on family life in general is very appealing to me. Family has always been very important to me and it seems that day by day we get busier and miss out on more with each other. So, I'm praying that the "near future" will happen sooner than later!
Thanks to all for all the good advice, tips and general information that is available on this site!

Welcome to the forum!

A few things to figure on cutting down from two incomes, how much will you save on gas, work cloths, lunches, extra car and childcare? If you subtract those costs from you current pay check, how much are you really making? Can you cut out things like the cable bill (down grade to basic cable and save $30/month), internet (down grade to dial up and save $30-50/month), take your own trash to the dump (save $15-30/month), cut your children's hair yourself (save $15/cut), use recipes for meals (save $3-25/meal when using a recipe as compared to premade meals or eating out), etc.

If you still don't think you can completely cut out one income, how about working part time? I work only weekends (16 hours) and make only slightly less then if I were working full time during the week when figuring how much I save in gas and childcare, plus I get to homeschool our children Wink
