| Am I reading the Missouri law correctly in that I may homeschool my nieces even though they do not live with me and I am not their guardian? Thanks. |

The law says "parent, guardian or other person having charge, control or custody of a child", and in another place, "parent, guardian or other responsible person". I read that to mean that you can't be the one legally responsible for the homeschool, but on the other hand the law doesn't state who can and can't do the teaching, so you should still be good to go.

Other states' laws are very specific about who can and can't do the teaching, but Missouri law doesn't seem to have any restrictions at all so long as you can show results. _________________ The Farming Game - Software Edition for Mac and PC

I would take this to mean then that the parents (guardians) would still be held legally responsible for the records, etc. but that they don't necessarily have to be the ones doing the actual teaching.
I already homeschool our three sons and would love to homeschool my nieces too. My brother and his wife must both work and are not able to do it themselves. I'm hoping that we can work something out either after the semester ends or next year. Thanks for your help with this. |
