i'm looking to hs 3 of my children in the fall and they want to try bju but i can't afford it!! i currently homeschool 1 using Ace. she likes it alright but gets a little bored with the workbook thing. i think she is missing regular textbooks. anyone know of a good place to pick these up? i'm finding the amount of components for each subject overwhelming.

I use BJU and really enjoy it. The best deals I've found are at Half Price Books (if you have those in your area) or www.half.com. If you're interested in half.com, I have some 2nd and 3rd grade BJU stuff already listed there. You can find it at http://shops.half.ebay.com/tx_homeschool . I also buy a lot of my used curriculum from eBay. Also, If you're looking to join a local homeschool association/group, the other families are another great resource for used curriculum. Good Luck

Thank you so much for your reply. i have started searching ebay and have been somewhat successful but still lots to get to round out the 3 children. How hard is it to use bju if you don't have all the notebooks, tests, quiz packets and such. is it possible to use just the text and the teacher ed?

Hi. I have found that it is fairly easy to implement with a Teacher's Ed and student book. My son did very well with BJU MATH 2 and I am selling my TE, if you are needing that grade/subject. I am going to follow through with BJU in math until probably high school. I have also used their English 10 using the TE and student only. This went very well also. I am considering the next level for this because I have found BJU to be easy to use and I like their approach and layout. I have found that tests and quizzes are not a huge need in homeschooling because you are working so closely with the student that it is hard not to notice what needs improvement. To me testing is simply a diagnostic tool- not an end unto its own. Hope that makes sense! My BJU Math 2 is the TE second edition (current) and is in like new condition. $18 ppd.

Thank you so much for your help. This helps me a great deal to not worry about all the extras that they sell. I do have the 2nd grade set already, thank you though for trying to help! I'm glad this sounds easy to use, it motivates me.
