Hi everyone, I'm a violinist as well as a homeschool graduate. Since my passions are for music and teaching, especially working with children, I'm thinking of starting my own teaching studio and serving the local homeschooling community in particular with violin, viola, and piano lessons, as well as options for studying music theory, music history, composition, ear training, etc for families who may be interested.
My question is, what elements would you find most helpful for your special needs children in music lessons? What can I do to make my studio welcoming for special needs families and what suggestions do you have for being most effective in helping them with music lessons? |

egads... you want all that answered in one post?
LOL
Just kidding.
it really does depend upon the special needs of the child.
patience and extreme flexability are good starters.
My daughter's piano teacher has taken to rewriting song titles
and making up new words for them that fall along the lines of
what my daughter is interested in.
It helps keep her interested in the music as well that way.
I believe that the current theme is cats.
