My son is in Grade 4.
I have problems checking my son's essays as we are not familiar with the scoring system.
We are using American Curriculum.
Furthermore, English is our second language.
So I want to know how the parents mark their child's essays?
How many words and paragraphs should be written for Grade 4 essay? Please help, we are new to America Curriculum. |

250-400 words sectioned into maybe 4-6 paragraphs, I'd say. Maybe the occasional longer essay. Just don't fall into the trap of assigning book reports - that takes all the fun out of reading, and reading is probably going to build more writing skills in the long run than writing itself does. Essays should be about things your son has done, real-life events in the news, persuasive essays for / against some point of view, that sort of thing. _________________ The Farming Game - Software Edition for Mac and PC
