Future of a homeschool mom?

Postby cam2930 » Thu Jan 25, 2007 3:12 pm

After 27 years of marriage, 22 years of homeschooling and eleven children, completely embracing everything "homey", life has come unraveled. Last year my husband confessed to having 4 affairs over the past 6 years when he was faced with an std. I was determined to forgive and move on, but when our adult children asked him questions, he lied and became very angry. To make a long story short, his behavior became more and more violent/angry, he started swearing and using profanity, and left the house for days at a time. He has now transferred out of the area and even cuts off phone contact between us. He was excommunicated from our Presbyterian church and doesn't care. The elders let him choose to be under their authority or be counted an unbeliever and he chose the latter. He will still try to use the Bible to manipulate me, he only cares about women's subjection and nothing about his responsibilities. Has anyone experienced something similar? I'm only surviving by hanging on to the Lord, but he hasn't cut off financial support yet. I'm affaid to divorce since I wouldn't have any health insurance, would have to give up homeschooling my 13, 12, and 10 yr olds to work and I have no marketable skills having stayed home all these years. I tried taking two community college courses last semester while still homeschooling 5 kids but I really had a hard time keeping up with school, homeschool, and all the regular household stuff not to mention being over 40! I understand that his behavior is typical for someone caught in adultery...but does anyone have any experience of how long this will last? He says he loves me, that is when he doesn't hate me, and wants to stay together, unless he won't even communicate on the phone. Anyway, I could use some advice on what I should do or what others have done. The other homeschool moms I know that have found themselves in a similar situation all divorced, but their husbands were doctors or lawyers, so life could go on with some normalcy if a broken heart could be called that. He was my best friend and we've been together since I was 15.

I haven't been in your situation but know of someone in it. You might want to read, "created to be his helpmeet" by Debi pearl. keep praying and I'll pray with you. There is hope in the Lord!
