I'm a 17 yr old girl in West Virginia. I've been homeschooling for the past 2 years but went to public every other year. I can see that there is plenty of 5-10 yr olds looking to chat..but how about anyone older?

But there is a christian chat room, if you are permitted and it seems very nice.

It is christianchat.com and there is a teen room.

you might try that if you have parental permission.

I just meant because it is safe from vulgar language and sexual conotations. Didn't mean to make you blow a cylinder. Very Happy

What sorts of things are you interested in? I may not share your interests, since I have a rather odd mix myself...

- Reading (science fiction, fantasy, war, commentaries on major issues, etc.)
- Programming / web design (I manage this site, among other things)
- Strategy games (whether board, card, or computer)
- Juggling
- And many other things...

...but perhaps there is someone else here of the right age who does. You just have to let them know that first Smile

hrm...what am I interested in?

I love music. Lots of different kinds. not much for country or classical, however.

I love the internet.

I only watch a few tv shows, and not much else. that includes:
Buffy the vamp slayer
Gilmore Girls
Ghost Hunters
Grey's Anatomy
and Degrassi.

I am engaged.

I want to learn to play drums. I wanted to play guitar, but soon learned that my hands are far too small to play...

I'm having a brain fart and can't think of anythink else right now.

You could check out www.firestream.net

It's a Christian metal board, but there is a mainstream music section on it as well. If you don't want to talk about religious things, just stay out of the theology section.

Anyhow...there are quite a few teens and not every one who posts there is Christian...so you might like it.

I prefer rock n' roll (50's) and some classical music. I don't listen to music much for entertainment, but that's the sort of music I listen to when I'm in the car and it isn't the right time slot for talk radio.

I love the Internet too, of course Smile

You can research any topic in detail in about 60 seconds, vs having to go to the library, find the right books, then locate the sections you're interested in. It saves so much time, and if you have further questions, there are forums all over the place on any topic under the sun. Plus you can actually get more than one viewpoint on news items, which is good when the media has decided it will only promote one side of the issue. Newspapers are so 10 years ago - the Internet gives anyone who can write an equal voice, and almost instantanously corrects any factual mistakes.

We don't own a TV, but I do watch / have watched a number of shows via DVD and iTunes:

Jeeves and Wooster

Those are classics imho, and universally entertaining.

haha..the only one of the whole list I would and DO watch is Boy Meets World. It's like a guilty pleasure.

I dispise star trek...My dad watched it...all the time. ALL THE TIME!

I've seen some Numbers and NCIS as well. I like NCIS, but Numbers seems to often be much too far-fetched in how the cops are always clueless to find the patterns on their own, and how there's always some complicated mathematical formula that applies to the problem. A lot of those cases just don't need a mathematician, imho. I don't hate the show, but I don't really love it either - it's just not believable.

InTheMix33: Why don't you like Star Trek? I can see how Classic might seem a bit corny at times, and Next Generation isn't very good imho, but Deep Space Nine is excellent. Maybe you just haven't been watching the right Star Trek Smile

That's true of some of the episodes, but quite a few are just totally ridiculous. Like the one where he has to use some complicated mathematical model to locate objects drifting on the tide, when the only really important point was that the regular cops forgot to correct for current changes. Or where he has to predict where a killer lives based on victim locations - when a simple statistics app would produce the same results after you punched in the numbers.

I guess my main objection is that I could solve a lot of those cases myself, and I'm not a mathematician. Real-life cops and FBI are smarter than they're portrayed in the episodes, and that just bothers me.
