State Performance Standards and required testing

Postby ptcbass » Thu Nov 04, 2010 2:37 pm

I am still trying to learn about homeschooling and starting to feel overwhelmed. I would love to pull my ds out of public school sooner than later but I am finding there is SO much out there to learn that it seems he will be graduated before I absorb all the information. I know here in GA you have to have your home schooled child tested every 3 years. Georgia has 42 pages of required standards that have to be taught for his grade level. I am sure I can go through that and scale it down a bit but it still seems like a lot.
How many of you make sure you teach on your state standards to ensure they do well on these test? How difficult is it to incorporate these "standards" into your home schooling lessons?

Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.

Even in home school, every child should have some nice Outdoor Playground Equipment!
