Math: Distar Method

Postby KristaBelk » Thu Aug 13, 2009 4:19 pm

I like the book "Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons" and was wondering if any one knew of any books or curriculum for math in the DISTAR method.

Thank You.

I don't know of any current ones, but if you're looking for something that's incremental like that, though without the constant verbal repetition, Math U See fits well.

Early math is largely about repeating things over and over until you have the facts memorized, so while drill may not be a whole lot of fun, it's unavoidable imho. It's rather an issue of what sort of drill to use - verbal / auditory, writing / visual, computer software, certain math-based board games, etc - and that just depends on the learning style of your child.
