Hello Group. I am looking for writing competitions for my 6th grader. He is very good! I found one: http://storiesbystudents.com/default.aspx

Does anybody know anything about this one? Looks great. Are there more? Is $5 - $10 a good price? Doesn't seem bad. My son seems eager to do something like this.
Thanks in advance. Exclamation

Heh, they make you pay to enter, and the prize is mainly to be published in their magazine. The list of topics doesn't seem that great either. February's essay: "Obama's Open Hand to the Muslim World" Has to be a better competition somewhere Shocked

Search for writing competitions online or for homeschool writing competitions since sometimes they won't let you participate if you are homeschooled. I had a bunch bookmarked at one time. I will see if I can find them again. They were all free to enter and with reputable companies or organizations that everyone had heard of. I'll look and if I find them I will post the websites.

Do not pay to enter a contest! Contests and Sweepstakes are a hobby of mine - and I NEVER pay a thing to enter.

Here's a freebie with 300 prizes but you do have to be at least 13:
