Writing Competitions

Postby JoeSwimmer » Mon Feb 02, 2009 12:01 pm

Hello Group. I am looking for writing competitions for my 6th grader. He is very good! I found one: http://storiesbystudents.com/default.aspx

Does anybody know anything about this one? Looks great. Are there more? Is $5 - $10 a good price? Doesn't seem bad. My son seems eager to do something like this.
Thanks in advance. :!:

Heh, they make you pay to enter, and the prize is mainly to be published in their magazine. The list of topics doesn't seem that great either. February's essay: "Obama's Open Hand to the Muslim World" Has to be a better competition somewhere

Search for writing competitions online or for homeschool writing competitions since sometimes they won't let you participate if you are homeschooled. I had a bunch bookmarked at one time. I will see if I can find them again. They were all free to enter and with reputable companies or organizations that everyone had heard of. I'll look and if I find them I will post the websites.

Do not pay to enter a contest! Contests and Sweepstakes are a hobby of mine - and I NEVER pay a thing to enter.

Here's a freebie with 300 prizes but you do have to be at least 13:
