"Should Homeschooling be illegal"???!!!
Funny how the Judge remains anonymous in this article, or is it?
----------
"At stake is the education of the 166,000 California children who currently are home-schooled"???!!!
at stake here are the rights of parents to have a say in the education of their children!
"Richard Kahlenberg says, the case “pits those who believe parental rights are paramount against those who place a premium on well-educated citizens.”
these two points are not mutually exclusive. as if those who choose to homeschool do not place a "premium" on well educated citizens. (what a crock!)
--------
interesting that when i looked up this "author" i found he,"is a Senior Fellow at The Century Foundation, where he writes about education, equal opportunity, and civil rights."
further investigation revealed that the "Century Foundation" is a Liberal Think tank with a liberal progressive agenda.
http://www.newcoalition.org/Article.cfm?artId=19002
one of it's offshoots ("Equality & Education)" http://www.equaleducation.org/
appears to be more interested in social reform through the public education system then the actual improvement of the FAILED public school system that has propelled the growing home school movement in the first place.
a search of the site using the word "home school" failed to come up with even one hit. so much for "in depth research into education.
i can't help but wonder if the "writers" of this "article" also work with Mr. Kahlenberg
at the Century Foundation,
any chance that Parade will offer the other side of this story?
maybe an investigation into why homeschooling is becoming so popular in America today?"

I remember seeing the results for this printed in the Parade Magazine several Sundays ago and the opinion was overwhelming...parents should not need teaching credentials. _________________ Jill
