Hi everyone,
I have a question.what if my son doesn't want to go to college after he receives his home school diploma and wants to get a job instead, will companies take home school diplomas? Has anyone here had any trouble with their homeschooled child getting a job fresh out of home school?
Thanks in advance for any help or advice given.

Very few homeschooled grads have problems getting jobs because they were homeschooled (as long as they have the appropriate job and social skills, of course). Homeschooling is not a new phenomena.

Your grad will, of course, always answer "yes" when asked if he graduated from high school. It is also helpful if you have a dignified, professional-sounding name for your school, such as "Mayfield Academy" instead of "We HomeSchool for Fun," lol.

Thank you elliemaejune, I just started homeschooling my 6year old, just pulled him out of public school on Friday and have been getting a little scared and wondering if I'm doing the right thing. That was a big worry of mine was that he wouldn't be able to get a job if he decided not to go to college. As far as a name for our school, there are so many out there what if I use one that's already used, could I get in trouble?
Anyone else have anymore suggestions for a professional sounding name?

We never had that issue with my children. My youngest is 23. They ask if you have graduated from high school and we say yes. If they want the name I just give them what we called our school. Oh, we just always used the name of our street like Brynhurst Academy

I was homeschooled, graduated with a homeschool diploma, didn't get a college degree, and I haven't had any issues with jobs. I've found that typically potential employers just want to make sure you have graduated high school or at least have a GED. After that, it hasn't really come up for me. I hope that helps!

Using the name of the street is a fantastic idea! I've never heard of that, but that's genius. It would make it sound so professional! Unless, of course, it's not that great of a street name, LOL. Still, I love the sound of this!

We have been trying to come up with a name for our homeschool and I like the street name idea. Thanks for sharing!
