I still do not know how to start!

Sorry, but after reading the getting started section I still do not know how to approach as to buying books etc.

My daughter will be 5 soon and for the last month or so she is just voraciously wanting to do school. We have some K books that I bought from the teacher's store but would like a little more help in picking from a recommended curriculum for K and 1st grade.

I forgot to add, she knows her letters and is already learning to read, so it's not a completely basic program I need help with.

You can decide which subjects and how many subjects you would like to include for kindergarten. You can keep it simple or do more if you have the time and just want to. You could include science and social studies; also things she may be interested in like art or music, etc. But really the basics like simple math and learning to read are the most important things at her age.

Here is a link for a typical course of study for K5. You could use it as a guide when choosing curriculum. You can also get free books and resources at your local public library for free. (There are many free resources online also.)

Check to see if your state requires by law that you teach certain subjects at her grade level. If so, be sure to include those subjects. If not, it is really up to you. You have the freedom to plan out her year any way you like.

First, Congratulations on beginning this new part of your life’s journey.
Instead of getting lost in reading and eventually get mind-bogged, I think it might be good to start slowly, and see what needs to be done. something like a todo list.
As after all, you're not the first to start homeschooling, i suggest you visit some sites that would a good direction and a starting point.

also you should visit homeschooling programs (HSP), i found there a good article that explains the main things one should consider when starting to homeschool.

May or may not be too pricey for you, but we kind of like Calvert for kindergarten. Used it with several of my younger siblings.

Have fun with her!!!!! Buy things that interest her. Play games and read books she likes. Here is a link to some great products for her young age.

Enjoy the time with her and she will enjoy learning along the way. Reading to her is the best thing you can do at this stage. Cater to her needs and interest.
