NY Compulsory Age

Postby jejamison » Sun Feb 27, 2011 12:41 pm

I have a 4.5 year old whose is ready to start kindergarten, however technically, she isn't "old enough" to start kindergarten in ps. I know the compulsory age for NY is 6, so do I have to send a letter of intent into the district yet or can I wait until she meets the compulsory age?

You can wait until she meets the compulsory age.

If she is going to turn 6 on or before Dec. 1st of any school year, then that year, you need to send in your letter of intent by July 1st.

This information is from HSLDA's site.
