Hi everyone and thanks for the replies.

I am considering all possibilities for my 6 week old daughter's formal education. I like the packages found on any Google search for homeschooling. What I haven't found is info on actual textbooks style of teaching. I want to look at the best examples of both to make an informed decision.

Can you suggest the best beginning grammer textbook? 1st or 2nd grade would be a great. Thanks again

I like Language Smarts for first and second grade. You can buy it at Rainbow Resource. ... tegory=722

More info here. ... p&id=01001

It is expensive but we have enjoyed it very much. It covers everything and it's colorful and fun.

I also like the Language Smarts book. Very colorful and engaging and easy to use.

Another excellent textbook approach is published by BJU Press. You can purchase just the textbooks and teacher's guides or go all out and get the DVD program. The DVDs are professionally recorded in a studio and include all kinds of props, puppets, characters, etc. for this young age group. Lots of fun and excellent academics!

For a very writing focused program, check out Write Source This includes a grammar workbook and grammar instruction in the text but makes writing the focus.
