I am catching up on an old post. Some of you may be interested.
I bought and have been using KRUPS blender. It features a wide base, assembles, disassembles, cleans easily, is very QUIET, blends at 4 speeds and crushes ice. I've used it about a year and have no complaints. It was costly, but worth it.
