Free Homeschooling Activities from the National Museum of the Marine Corps!

Postby NMMC » Thu Apr 30, 2020 11:42 am

Hello all! I'm an educator at the National Museum of the Marine Corps and thought that, during these crazy times, I would drop information on the education department's latest homeschool event for everyone that wanted to use it! Everything we put out is completely free to use and includes activities for every age group, from preschool to high school. If you enjoy this program, you can follow us on Facebook and Instagram at "nmmckids" for more information and activities beyond this one! Thanks for your time and stay safe everyone!

"Please join the National Museum of the Marine Corps on a voyage of discovery! In 1838, the United States Congress sent Lt. Charles Wilkes and a crew of sailors, Marines, and scientists on a four year voyage into the last great frontier, the Pacific. These men discovered and collected thousands of plant and animal species unknown to the Western world, mapped and surveyed thousands of miles of coastline (including Antarctica), and interacted with and studied the peoples of the islands of the Pacific, and northwestern North America.

This program follows the voyage, which is known as The United States Exploring Expedition, the U.S. Ex Ex, or simply the Wilkes Expedition."

The program, NMMC at Home: The History, Natural Science, and Legacy of the Wilkes Expedition (1838-1842) can be accessed through this link:
