I have a daughter who just turned 3 and "should" be starting preschool, but we have decided that she may be better off at home with me, a certified teacher!

Anyways, I am trying to do some themes with her at home everyday and one thing that I have been doing is science. She loves my iPad so I use it for many subjects with her, and I am constantly on the lookout now for quality educational apps. I found one called Jetpack Journeys that I wanted to share because it is a fun way to let your children discover space on their own. I want to help the developers spread the word because it is new and I think it's fantastic. It is geared towards 3-7 year olds and is very user friendly for that age, with fun graphics!

Check it out here if you are interested:

I think we need to help each other find ways to integrate technology into the home schooling environment, so if you know of more, please post them too!

The SkyView apps on iPhone and iPad are a great way to learn about stars, constellations, and satellites. With these apps you simply point your phone or tablet at the sky and it identifies stars, constellations, and satellites. The apps will also show trajectories and facts when you click on a particular star or satellite. It can be used indoors, outdoors, day, or night.

I have only used the free version, and it is a great way to explore the sky. The paid version was just updated with a new interface, night mode, 3D satellite models, and a couple other features.

The paid versions are $0.99 and $1.99. Great bargain on an excellent learning tool if you already have an iPhone or iPad.

Note: I have no affiliations with SkyView. I am just very impressed by their product.

Another great science app geared towards outer space is Star Walk Kids: Astronomy Game. Engaging and user friendly!
