Sonlight for secular homeschool?
I was just wondering if there's anyone who has had luck modifying Sonlight for secular use? I really like their curriculum but have no use for the Bible portion. Is the religious content so integral to the curriculum that it would be difficult to use without it? We're using Calvert right now which is kind of boring. And I like Sonlight's heavy use of literature. Any input would be helpful, thanks!
I don't know much about Sonlight Curriculum so I can't answer your question about modifying it. However if you prefer a literature based approach to homeschooling you might like Oak Meadow Curriculum. http://www.oakmeadow.com Their website has samples of the curriculum here http://www.oakmeadow.com/curriculum/samples.htm . They are PDF files so you will need Acrobat Reader to view them. You can also request a catalog from them here http://www.oakmeadow.com/resources/catalogrequest.cfm . I have considered using them for my children in the past, but we went with a more relaxed/unschooling approach. If we ever decided to use a curriculum we'd purchase Oak Meadows for sure. I have been told by several sources that Oak Meadow is a secular curriculum.
Good luck to you and your family.
