Third grade Online Education Program

Postby momof2kids » Wed May 05, 2021 1:02 pm

I am new to this community. I am homeschooling 2 of my kids.

I would like to know the best education program for a 3rd grade. I am not looking for online homeschooling programs where they charge around $500/month. I am looking for online academies that charges $25 or less per month.

My friend recommended me ABCMouse. I subscribed for 1 month free trial. Looks like ABCMouse is only till Grade 2. My google search gave me quite a few online learning academies like IXL, Adventure Academy etc.

I will also be teaching my daughter. But because of my work schedule, I am going to mostly rely on these online academies. Any recommendations for which one would be more suitable for all subjects (Math, English, Science, Social Studies) for a 3rd grade?

Thanks.

Thank you for your reply.

Like you said, I am not looking for core instruction, only the supplemental.

My plan is to spend 2 to 3 hours on weekdays. This is my plan for the weekday.

1) Math (every day): 45 minutes
2) Language Arts (every day): 20 minutes
3) Science (every day): 20 minutes
4) Social Studies (every day): 20 minutes
5) Art (on her own) (Twice a week): 45 minutes
6) Music (online class) (Twice a week): 30 minutes
7) Second language (Spanish) (online class) (Twice a week): 20 minutes

On the weekend, she will be revising what she studied that week.

I have scholastic and spectrum text books for math, language arts, science and social studies.

I used to have a private instructor which I paid $600 per month. It's two hours per week. I wasn't that satisfied. So I decided to teach my daughter myself. I felt if I have some supplemental, it would help us. When I am not teaching, she can listen to that instruction.

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I meant workbooks. For some reason, I thought both textbooks and workbooks are the same.

For English, as of now, we are doing reading, writing & grammar, each 1 day (all spectrum). So far I haven't included penmanship and spelling in our schedule. I will include that in the next week schedule and increase the time for English from 20 minutes to 30 minutes and reduce the math time from 45 minutes to 30 minutes.

I bought most of the books (workbooks) from Amazon and one or two from Barnes & Noble. When I searched for textbooks, Spectrum, Scholastic kinds of books came up. So I thought those were the textbooks. Are the textbooks will be given only by the school, or can I buy them from somewhere else?

I would recommend Beestar's ELA reading program. ELA Reading programs often incorporate activities to enhance students' vocabulary. This includes exposure to new words, understanding their meanings, and using them in the context of sentences. Beestar's ELA Reading program provides leveled reading materials, meaning that students can access content that aligns with their current reading abilities. This allows for a more personalized and targeted approach to learning.
