Postby Brally79 » Thu Mar 12, 2020 1:04 pm

Can someone give more info on the steps to take on how to home school in Tennessee for elementary school? Do I need to fill out some forms, be certified? what are the laws and protocol? How long will it take to set up for homeschooling? My daughter is currently in kindergarten, once I'm prepared for homeschooling can I pull my kid out of her public school in the middle of the semester. Thanks!

Sure! Go here. Pick your state. On that page, you'll find your state group's website at the top. Look on their menu for "Getting Started" or "Legal" or "Resources," etc. You'll also find templates and forms, for states that require those, as well as FAQs for situations such as withdrawing mid-year. :D

To homeschool in Tennessee, submit a Notice of Intent to your local school district, outlining your educational plans. Maintain attendance and academic records, covering required subjects. Optional: join a homeschool association for support. Check for any additional state-specific requirements or change check more info on https://educatoroid.com/.

Embarking on a homeschooling journey in Tennessee involves several key steps to ensure compliance with state regulations and provide a fulfilling educational experience for your child. First and foremost, it's crucial to familiarize yourself with Tennessee homeschooling laws outlined in Tennessee Code Annotated § 49-6-3050. These laws govern the procedures and requirements for homeschooling families in the state. One of the primary steps is to submit a Notice of Intent (NOI) to homeschool your child. This document must be filed with the local school district's superintendent's office before the school year begins and typically includes basic information about the parent or guardian, the child being homeschooled, and an outline of the educational plan. Once you've submitted your NOI, you have the freedom to choose a curriculum that aligns with your child's learning needs and your educational philosophy.

Resources like Tiny Genius Learning Game Kids https://tinygenius.app/ offer a wide range of educational activities designed for preschool and kindergarten-aged children, providing interactive games, educational videos, puzzles, and more to complement your homeschooling curriculum. It's also essential to maintain thorough records, including attendance, academic progress reports, and proof of immunization compliance or exemption. Annual evaluations are required to assess your child's academic progress, which can be conducted by a qualified individual such as a certified teacher and may include standardized testing or a review of samples of the student's work. Staying informed about changes to homeschooling laws and regulations in Tennessee and participating in homeschooling support groups or associations can further enhance your homeschooling experience.
