Online vs. homeschool

Postby LisaG » Tue Jun 03, 2014 10:49 am

We homeschooled all three of my children up until middle school. At that point, we enrolled them in an online school. We were VERY hesitant at first, but it has been a blessing. The program is fantastic, their teachers help my children when they need it, and they handle all the grading and record keeping. I review everything and follow my children through their online portal that give me real time stats on their attendance, grades, and feedback. I can monitor all communication between my children and their staff. The program is interactive and my children enjoy it. I also provide face to face lessons in addition to the work they do online to supplement the curriculum. It is working great for us. My eldest daughter is a senior this year and was just accepted to Brown. If you are looking for a quality program

Lisa, on your recommendation, we enrolled in American High School and so far, it has been a great experience. They have made it so easy for us. They requested our transcripts and determined what we need to graduate. Then, they helped us set our schedule and provided an hour long orientation. Every time I have needed help so far, we have been able to Skype with the teacher who has spent so much time tutoring my daughter. We had always spoke of homeschooling our children, but we never really thought we could do it. This has been such a great experience, I can't recommend it enough. Try them out

Homeschooling vs online

Postby Jackie4776 » Mon Jan 05, 2015 1:57 pm

We have done all types of schools. Private, Public, Homeschool and Online School. We started out in public schools up until the third grade and then went private. For the amount of money we were spending, the school wasn't so much better than the public school in our district. With no other options, we decided to homeschool for the rest of elementary school and middle. Unfortunately, when my son started taking classes like physics and trigonometry, we were unable to guide him as well as we would like. We looked into a virtual school who provided teachers to assist. He got the tutoring he needed, they handled the record keeping(load off us) and we had the peace of mind knowing this was a SACS accredited program. Online Schools can compliment what you are doing already and add some value to your program.

I too prefer homeshooling as it more interactive than anyothers.
