A lot of people homeschool because they were totally rejected by the public school system. The fact that they can function at all is a plus. Also, as recent as 10 years ago, homeschoolers were still having their children taken away by Child Services, which didn't make having a social life terribly easy back then. Homeschooling is far more mainstream now, and there are thousands of homeschool groups, plus there are 20+ years of homeschool experience for new homeschoolers to draw upon.

Not to try to make a parallel to homeschooling, but did NASA shut down when its first few rockets crashed and burned? No, because there was nothing wrong with space flight per se, just the application thereof.

I would like to note here that homeschooling does not mean you cut yourself off from college, or even high school-level courses at your local community college. If you have the time and money for it, taking courses in the more advanced / difficult subject areas is a great idea, since it both prepares you for what college is going to be like, and gives you the opportunity for more scope in courses that require lab. Plus, if you do a really good job, you can get letters of recommendation from your teachers, which helps when applying to a good college.

There's nothing wrong with participating in sports at the local high school, either, assuming they're ok with homeschoolers. Usually they're just happy to have more people to choose from - this gives them an advantage against the enemy teams :)

I'm a brand new face here looking for some information

I am 28 years old and I have a large desire to find organizations that stand against this attrocity which is home education.

I went through 12 years of it myself and care not to debate among this forum as I personally know the reasons why it is honestly one of the worst forms of child abuse.

Anyway, if anybody is interested in my reasoning about homeschooling or has information concerning organizations I can support that stand against it let me know via email

Thanks for your time

Wouldn't it be more to the point to post on the NEA web site rather than ours, then? You're not going to find many people here who agree with you, certainly not if your posts are inflammatory and unsubstantiated. At least Against Homeschooling provides reasons.
