Home School in the Philippines? How to do it?

Postby Balut Paradise » Fri Jun 14, 2013 11:27 am

I know the law. However, the law doesn't always tell you how to do it. As many people know, probably only 10% of the population can afford to pay for public school here. The rest of the children usually work or beg all day. The police and government does nothing. So not too worried about the police kicking our door down, like in America.

But how do you START homeschooling? Also, what about getting DEPED accreditation? I will need this for certain legalities in the Philippines. Thank you!

How do you define "start"? If you just mean start teaching your child, it's as easy as buying or putting together a curriculum and then using it. Homeschooling is just teaching your children at home. Do you want an English-language curriculum?

Regarding DepEd, it sounds like you just have your children take two tests - one covering elementary and the other covering secondary education. So really, it's just a matter of making sure you cover whatever's on the test as part of your homeschooling.
