Full time single working mom...crazy to homeschool BP son?

Hello everyone! Like a lot of you...I REALLY need some advice!

I have tried everything with my bipolar DS13 son over the years. This has been his life so far:

PK3-K private school
1 - public gifted school
2 - montessori
3-5 private school
6 public school
7 public school, special ed program

I have ALWAYS struggled to do what's best for him. He's a very intelligent child with a mood disorder. What works best for him is calmness and structure. I was very excited at the beginning of 7th grade with his IEP and being in a program I thought was going to work. Unfortunately, a lot of children who have behavior problems were also put in that class and it was complete chaos. On top of all that, my children's father died in November so it was a very hard year. I am a full time working mother and I am actually thinking of sOmEhOw homeschooling him for 8th grade.

What do you guys think of that? Is it doable? Where would you recommend I start? What curriculum do you recommend?

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and respond!!!

Here is a good article to read. -

Lots of homeschool moms work full time. You can be flexible with when you teach your son. It doesn't matter when the learning occurs -- just so it does occur. It can be any time of day, on weekends, whatever.

Here is a link about choosing curriculum. -

Here is another great page about homeschooling your bipolar child. -

On that page, especially check out the links under "online support". It might be a good idea to join one of those groups/forums so that you can make a connection with other moms who are homeschooling their bipolar children and they might be able to suggest specific curriculums that have worked well for them.

Best wishes!
