My Child Was Forced Into Special Education

Postby BrainyMomBlogger » Fri Aug 24, 2012 5:07 pm

My first daughter had a speech impediment - and literally didn't talk till she was close to four years old. As a parents, my husband and I did all we could to help her both educationally and emotionally.

Learn the steps we took to get my child out of special education in the public school district, and why we switched to homeschooling.

I have some family that also had a similar expereince. I think sometimes teachers will push IEPs/504s to "rationalize" why they can't make progress with a student. I'm not saying all teachers are bad in this respect it's just one of the motivations that maybe present if a school is pushing special needs. Bottom line always get a second outside expert to help you determine if your child has a special learning need.
