Is your comment too one-sided? Personally, I find that not all schools are like that. Maybe it's because I'm lucky that my children have always been able to study in good schools. The teachers are very enthusiastic and the class is very fun.

I completely agree with the original post! We're both in our twenties now, but my brother and I were homeschooled from Elementary school to HS graduation, and long story short it was an absolute nightmare.

Well, since the pandemic struck, I've been involved in homeschooling my nephew, which turned to be a steep learning process for all parties involved. It still is. In some ways, it was great in that we could avoid the sort of ugly academic competition that is rampant in schools, but we also feel rudderless at times. We now rely on using supplementary study materials and explainers to educate ourselves so that we can in turn help my nephew. We divide subjects amongst ourselves to that end. There are plenty of free resources out there though. Starting from Wikipedia to sites that are age-group-specific. A simple online search yielded many results. If it helps, my nephew and i are currently using this module on factors of production.

I don't think I made many mistakes. But reading your comments, I realize that I avoided many as well. I'm afraid of making more mistakes because my oldest son is only 12. But I hope that everything will be ok.

I think it's an individual thing. My older son went to elementary school and then wanted to try homeschooling. Especially with the start of quarantine, he was happy to be homeschooled as it was. And my younger son enjoys going to school. They both have friends and go out and have fun.

Hello, I am a parent who homeschooled my 2 daughters some years ago back in the late 1990s. We lived in Syracuse NY where there was a thriving homeschool community. We were able to work together with other families from various churches, and we would share our resources and often hold classes together. Today I see the wonderful results of having home schooled my daughters. Both young ladies are successful entrepreneurs and both went onto college. Maybe the most important thing is the strong moral base they received from our Christian home. Foundations are so critically important and I simply would not leave that up to others who do not share my values. I am glad to have made the choices and decisions that I did and I am now seeing the rewards from home schooling and raising my children in Christ.

Hey everyone,

I'm hoping to share my story here and prove, once again, that homeschooling is a tried and tested method that gives results!

I'm completely self taught, and with no help from any schools whatsoever I've written two books and composed music which has been used in videos with hundreds of thousands of views. Furthermore, there's no way I'd be where I am today if it wasn't for homeschooling.

I wrote an article on my website about my experiences not too long ago. It gives a little detail about my upbringing (and how I never had any luck with a school-based curriculum) and also how I learnt to write and become a published author.
