SHINE (South lyon Homeschooling IN Excellence) is a homeschool support group which serves homeschooling families living in the South Lyon school district area. Families who are homeschooling preschool through high school age children are welcome to join, however, most of our activities are geared towards school age children. Some of our past activities have included field trips, play dates, craft days, parent coffee and chat nights, holiday parties, art shows, science fairs, and co-op classes. We are open to people of all faiths. Many members are christians, and some posts and events may include discussions of christian issues, and some activities may be christian oriented. Requirements for the group include: 1) an annual membership application; 2) an annual $12 per family membership fee; and 3) members facilitate or co-facilitate at least one activity per year. In addition, members are encouraged, but not required, to participate in one activity per quarter.
