My younger brother isn't doing too well in public school and my parents are looking at homeschooling as an option. He's in 7th grade now. I've found an online public school - k12, but I was wondering what other options are there?
We'd like to transition from public to home schooling slowly, gradually giving him more and more freedom, so right now we are looking for something slightly structured - a good online school, or maybe a program that gives you textbook and a list of assignments that need to be completed within a month.
My parents both wok and right now I'm on break from college (I'm getting my Masters) but I'll be going back soon, so there isn't really anyone to stay home with him during the day. |

You could look into Scholar's Online Academy:

Took some courses from them WAY back 13-14 years ago when they were just starting out. _________________ The Farming Game - Software Edition for Mac and PC

Bridgeway Academy also now offers online schooling for middle school students. In addition, you can opt to take advantage of online instructors in each subject every week. This will give you brother a bit more accountability and structure as he gets started.

You may also want to consider BJU Press' online schooling option. Your brother can actually work online with them or purchase DVD courses, both of which provide an instructor every day for every subject.

I'm personally not a fan of "online" schooling where you don't actually get to interact with teachers. What's the point? You might as well use textbooks, at least then you aren't locked to a computer. _________________ The Farming Game - Software Edition for Mac and PC
