I need a quiet blender. The one I use is too loud. I push the buttons and hold my ears. And one where the bottom is wider. Any suggestions?

Any blender powerful enough to do things like crush ice is going to produce a lot of noise. About your only option is to get a blender with a sound shield, but it would probably be cheaper to use a regular blender and buy a pair of sound-dampening headphones. Smile

Funny and you're right about the ear plugs. I've been doing some searching and found some that claim to be powerful, yet quieter. I guess I'll be testing them in the store. I would like a blender with a wider base also - food might not get stuck under the blades as with a narrow base.

This may be too late, but we love our old fashioned Osterizer. It's got a stainless steel base, one speed, and has lasted years. We've only had to replace the rubber seal and plastic base after 8 or so years of using regularly.
