I need to break my Latte habit-I need advice

Postby janaleigh » Wed May 13, 2009 12:18 pm

My husband and I walk every morning after stopping by Starbucks. I'd like to learn how to make espresso at home and make my own lattes. Any advice?

at home we have a stove top espresso maker, well espresso machines are too expensive and i'm satisfied with mine... perhaps you can shop for a stove top espresso maker, it's affordable and fairly easy to use...

i did some research before and have stumbled across a DIY cheap espresso machine, hope this helps: http://www.engadget.com/2005/02/15/how- ... o-machine/

also found a latte recipe, it's fairly close to the starbucks recipe, could probably be the authentic recipe...

ingredients:

3 tbsp canned pumpkin
2 tbsp vanilla flavored syrup
1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1 cup milk
3 ounces espresso

preparation:

- in a small saucepan, stir pumpkin puree into milk
- add vanilla syrup and pumpkin pie spice
- heat gently, continuing to stirring occasionally just until steaming and foam begins to appear
- pour pumpkin flavored milk into a tall mug and pour espresso over.
- top with whip cream and a dash of pumpkin pie spice
