| We have a 7th grade daughter who after we left Louisiana, due to Hurricane Katrina, started public school in Texas. We are not having success at all in Texas. The dramatic experience she had has hurt her mentally and emotionally. We need to pull her out of public school now. Can we start homeschooling her immediatly even though she only has one month left? Thanks for the help to whomever replies. |

There are no legal requirements for homeschooling in Texas, other than including reading, spelling, grammar, math, and "good citizenship" in your curriculum.

So you can pull her out immediately. Give her a week or so off to detox from school, and take the time to look at the available options in terms of curriculum, online schools, and homeschool groups in your area.
