My daughter and I have decided to homeschool her 2 children (ages 7 & 10), starting now at the end of Spring Break. There are a lot of reasons for this, but we are planning to continue at least through Elementary School for both of them.
I have a BA (history/political science area of concentration) and worked on Graduate courses in Sociology, Guidance and Counseling, Bilingual/Bicultural and English as a second language over the years. I taught Kindergarten in the early 70s and was an English as a foreign language specialist for the US government for many years.
But, neither of us has ever homeschooled; many of our friends and fellow church members do homeschool.
Any ideas for me on similarities/differences I may not think of? _________________ Linda Chambers

Hi Linda, One thing to think about is that you don't have to "do school at home". Homeschooling can be a lot more relaxed and learning really does occur all throughout the day during the week and also on weekends. It becomes a way of life, instead of just 8am - 3pm M-F. It sounds like your grandchildren are going to have two wonderful teachers! Best wishes and welcome to the forum. _________________ Laura L. Barth
