My son will be in 9th grade this fall and I am stuck on what he should do for Science... He completed Physcial Science in the 8th grade. The next Science should be Biology, but our Co-op is offering a GREAT biology Lab next fall (2009).. Chemisty might be an option, but he is not ready in Math to tackle it....
I want to make sure he is fully prepared for College...... Any suggestions? |

Not sure where you live, but when I went through school I took Agricultural Science/Farming. It explored a little bit more earth science and chemistry together. _________________ "The greatest sign of success for a teacher... is to be able to say, "The children are now working as if I did not exist."

| We live in Tennessee and I agree with you, Agricultural Science would be great and he would enjoy, but I cannot find a curriculum. Any suggestions? |

You'd have to make it up yourself, I'm afraid. There's sites like Farmnet that provide basic overviews and introductions at a young adult level, but it would need to be supplemented heavily with hands on work. 4-H could help with that, along with maybe a parttime job/lessons at a local farm. _________________ "The greatest sign of success for a teacher... is to be able to say, "The children are now working as if I did not exist."

| I just looked at the Arkansas State University website and the bookstore has several agriculture books, but I have no clue about any of them. I'd suggest you call the college of agriculture there and see if anyone could guide you. Also the college offers introduction to plants and introduction to animals in the science college which is required to graduate with a degree in agriculture. Auburn, Kentucky, & Purdue also offer colleges of agriculture. |
