Does any one know what the law is if a family is to hire a home educator- with a Master's Degree in education but no fla. teacher certification? The parents will not be teaching their 8 yr old at all, it will only be the home educator instructing the child. Is it legal and acceptable to have a home educator without florida teacher certifcation? In this case, would it be necessary for the parents to enroll the child in an umbrella school? Any feedback and suggestions would be appreciated.

You can download a Guide to HSing in FL from http://fpea.com/
There is a private tutor option but I don't know if the tutor has to have a certification. An umbrella school makes everything easier. They might want to consider it regardless. By enrolling in an umbrella school they are considered private schoolers. There are completely hand off umbrella schools for little or no money.
